Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties

At Crowmarsh Gifford C of E Primary School, we recognise that children's social, emotional and mental health is an important part of their wellbeing, development and ability to learn.

All children experience times when they may need additional emotional support. For some children, social, emotional or mental health needs may become a barrier to their learning, relationships or participation in school life and they may need additional or more targeted support.

Children can communicate that they are finding things difficult in many different ways. This might include changes in behaviour, becoming withdrawn or anxious, difficulties with friendships, managing emotions, engaging with learning, or attention and concentration.

We aim to notice these changes early, listen carefully to children and work in partnership with families to understand what may be happening and what support would be most helpful.

Some children with ongoing or significant social, emotional and mental health needs may be identified as having special educational needs and receive support through our SEND provision.

You can find more information about the support available in school on our Pastoral Support page.

If you are concerned about your child's social, emotional or mental health, please speak to your child's class teacher or our SENDCo.
