Homework Summary
Homework at Crowmarsh Gifford C of E Primary School is designed to support learning, build positive routines, and encourage independence. It should be a positive experience for children and families.
Key Principles
- Little and often is better than long, stressful tasks.
- Reading is the foundation of learning and is recommended every day.
- Homework encourages fluency, recall, discussion, and creativity.
- Parents have flexibility — it’s about what works best for your child and family.
- Homework should never feel like a source of pressure.

Note: Reading Records should be brought to school daily (EYFS–Y4).
Topic Tasks (Years R–4)
- Each week, choose a different activity to enjoy together.
- Discussion, creativity, and fun are just as important as the finished outcome.
- Tasks can be presented in any way: photos, videos, artwork, scrapbooks, writing, or even something edible!
- Projects may take more than one week — take your time and enjoy the learning.
Parental Choice & Flexibility
- Homework is recommended to support learning, not to create pressure.
- Parents may decide what is manageable and beneficial for their child.
- If homework is not completed, there will be no sanctions.
- Our goal is to foster curiosity, independence, and a love of learning.
- Staff are happy to support families where needed.
