Reception & Pre-School Visits – Starting School in 2026
We warmly invite families of children due to start Reception or Pre-School in 2026 to come and visit our school. These visits are a great opportunity to see our setting in action, meet our team, and get a feel for what makes Crowmarsh Gifford C of E Primary such a special place to begin your child’s learning journey.
Dates and times for school visits are listed below.
Places are limited so that we can offer a warm welcome and take the time to answer individual questions. To book your visit, please email the school office, stating how many adults will be attending. office.3200@crowmarsh-gifford.oxon.sch.uk

Getting Ready for Reception
Getting Ready for Reception
Starting school is a big step, and there are simple ways you can help your child feel ready:
-
Sing and rhyme together – nursery rhymes help children hear sounds in words, build memory, and grow language skills. Children familiar with rhymes are more likely to read and spell well later.
-
Play with adults – games and role play with adults help children practise language, problem-solving, imagination, and confidence.
-
Play with other children – playing with peers helps children share, take turns, cooperate, and make friends.
-
Encourage independence – practising putting on coats, using the toilet, and managing belongings builds confidence in school routines.
A little singing, playing, and practising independence each day gives children a happy, confident start to school.
