Reception & Pre-School Visits – Starting School in 2027
When we confirm our autumn 2026 visit dates.....
We warmly invite families of children due to start Reception or Pre-School in 2027 to come and visit our school. These visits are a great opportunity to see our setting in action, meet our team, and get a feel for what makes Crowmarsh Gifford C of E Primary such a special place to begin your child’s learning journey.
Dates and times for school visits are not yet set.
When we confirm our dates book your visit via email the school office, stating how many adults will be attending. office.3200@crowmarsh-gifford.oxon.sch.uk
Please note: the school application portal closes on 15th January 2027, so we encourage you to visit before then to help you make an informed decision.
Getting Ready for Reception
Getting Ready for Reception
Starting school is a big step, and there are simple ways you can help your child feel ready:
-
Sing and rhyme together – nursery rhymes help children hear sounds in words, build memory, and grow language skills. Children familiar with rhymes are more likely to read and spell well later.
-
Play with adults – games and role play with adults help children practise language, problem-solving, imagination, and confidence.
-
Play with other children – playing with peers helps children share, take turns, cooperate, and make friends.
-
Encourage independence – practising putting on coats, using the toilet, and managing belongings builds confidence in school routines.
A little singing, playing, and practising independence each day gives children a happy, confident start to school.
