RE & WorldViews
"In Church of England schools, where pupils and staff come from all faiths and none, religious education (RE) is a highly valued academic subject that enables understanding of how religion and beliefs affect our lives. At the heart of RE in church schools is the teaching of Christianity and pupils also learn about other faiths and world views." Church of England

RE & Worldviews in Action
Year 1 learned about Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest, and how families use special items such as a Kiddush cup and challah bread to celebrate. They decorated their own Kiddush cups and then used them alongside bread to take part in a simple Shabbat-style meal.

Class 2 have been exploring how Hindus worship. Through investigating what their senses can tell them about Hindu worship, they learned about worship practices in Hindu homes. The children were able to identify the key features of a home shrine and used this knowledge to help set one up in the classroom.
RE and Worldviews outside the classroom:
Children in our Master Builder’s Lego Club have been exploring the idea of temples, learning that a temple is a special place where people gather for worship, celebration and shared community moments. They looked at how temples often bring people together for festivals, special ceremonies and even shared food. Inspired by these ideas, the children designed and built their own Lego models, choosing features that felt meaningful or important to them. Their creations show wonderful imagination, individuality and a growing understanding of how buildings can express beliefs, values and togetherness.

Year 5 have looked at the topic 'Where do I stand?' Initially we explored the idea of worldwide views, what influences our views and how we interact with the world. We then looked at different themes within this including sacred spaces, hope for the future and the relationship between humans and animals. We then chose a theme for our own artwork expressing our worldwide views and wrote about what are work shows.
